Workshop Information:
Scriptwriting with Sheldon Currie
A 2-day writing workshop that will provide a clear overview and the supporting details to allow even a beginning writer to create a cohesive, exciting tale.
The workshop will start with an overview of a simple story structure and then talk about some things we would consider about that story if we were trying to build that same story to be a script for a film.
Sheldon Currie will then lead us through the main considerations of building good story. Given Mr. Currie's extensive and accomplished writing career, he can also offer some insight into the writers' tricks and tools to overcome various obstacles that all writers face in story development, character development, research, etc.
After the basics of scriptwriting are covered, we will give people an option to work in groups or individually. Working either as a group or individually, teams will write short film scripts for films in the 3-5 minute range.
At various points, the teams will share their progress and get feedback on their story. The aim of the workshop is to create at least 2 or 3 film scripts that could be developed into short films through an upcoming filmmaking workshop.
The Daily Structure:
- Start at 10:00am each day
- End at approximately 3:30 each day
- There will be some group work.
- Those who prefer to work individually can do so for most activities
- If you have a story idea that you want to bring, please feel free to do so.
- Cost is $25 for adults, $15 for seniors, $8 for youth (16-19), and $45 per family.
- Due to the complexity and length of the workshop, it is not suitable for children. If you have children and would like to see workshops for them, please let us know and we will be happy to build something into future festivals.
